Kylie Cosmetics - Lip Kit
I finally have one of these babies! YAY!
My Kylie Lip Kit...
On Wednesday I went to pick up my parcel from the Royal Mail Delivery Office in Kingston - annoyingly if I was at home on Monday then I would have had it on Monday, but what can you do.
The whole product...
So, the packaging for starters is gorgeous! So simple, but it speaks excitement (to me anyway). I love the white liquid droplets on the inside of the box because it is the same image that is all over her products and I love that because it brings them all together. Also, I think that the letter Kylie leaves in each box makes each package seem personal to her, even though I know she doesn't write and sign each letter, the effort to make a connection with her customers makes the product more personal and friendly.
I think this is a factor that other brands are definitely missing because it does make customers feel as if there is a relationship there, even though we really know there isn't, rather than our packages just being another one to the pile that needs to be shipped out.
The shade I purchased is called 'Dirty Peach' and I am so so happy with it! I can remember seeing that Kylie was bringing out another three shades, those that matched the three main skin tones: Dirty Peach, Brown Sugar and Love Bite. I knew as soon as I saw them that I just HAD TO HAVE Dirty Peach - it would suit my skin tone the best and I just had to try it!
And I was right, I think that out of all the lip kits the lighter, nude shades would do me the most justice. You may notice from my social media that I always wear a nude lip during the day or on a night out (although recently I have purchased one dark liquid lipstick) because I think that it is the most flattering on me as my lips aren't plump-enough to pull off dark shades. Therefore, if you're like me - fair skinned with smaller lips - then I would definitely recommend Dirty Peach because the nude, orange tint is great for A/W (as well as obviously S/S) as it adds a cute pop of colour to your face.
My Less positive experiences...
In the process of buying this product I knew that it was going to be expensive: the actual lip kit itself costs $29 (£22.34) - which isn't THAT bad for both a liquid lipstick and liner - but then you have to add on International shipping fees which is $14.95 (£11.52) so in total that is £33.86. At this point, when I realised actually how little I was buying for £33.86 I was sceptical because I definitely think that is a lot of money for one kit, however I was so so happy to have finally been able to purchase a kit, I didn't want to leave it another minute longer! So yes I bought it.
Ten days later, I was hit with another charge of around £12.50 for 'handling fees' or something which I was made to pay when I got to the Royal Mail Delivery Office before collecting my product...
Feeling annoyed? Angry? Upset?
Yes I was feeling all of the above! Not because I didn't want the item, but because I was so surprised after all of the fees I'd paid and after waiting 10 days they added on another fee. This was the most disappointing thing about my experience buying Kylie Cosmetics.
I don't want to sound rude, mean or like I'm dissing the idea of buying from Kylie Cosmetics, because I'm not! It's just that I would have preferred knowing that there would be yet another fee to pay.
Therefore, my main piece of advice to you would be to BUY MULTIPLE PRODUCTS - this way all the different fees you're paying are much more worthwhile as you aren't paying a lot for little.
Thanks for reading guys! Let me know what Lip Kits you have purchased in the comments below!
